49 – Woodstock

Hello! My name is David Kennedy and I am a life long resident of Carleton County. I was born and raised in Kirkland. I attended school in Canterbury and at Southern Carleton. I completed a degree in Heavy Equipment Operating at Saint John Technical School.
In 1972, I married my wife, Polly, and raised my two children, Carla and Chris. I also have two grandchildren, named Zachary and Eden.
My work experience started as a driver for tractor trailers, school buses and cement trucks. In the early 80s, I entered the justice system as a casual correctional officer and eventually earned a full-time position at the Woodstock Jail. I also donated countless hours to the Woodstock Town Police Force as an auxiliary officer. When corruption surfaced in our Provincial Union, I had the daunting task of putting our union back into a viable state to represent all of our members. I stepped in and was elected to represent members through some very trying times which included cuts to our essential services across the Province. During this time, I found out that our government, and its representatives, do not listen to the people who have knowledge to operate the systems they were in.
At that time, our MLAs were not permitted to represent their constituents and voice their concerns, and sadly that is still the case today. Political interference and political agendas always come first instead of what is in the best interest of the people of our Province.
I stepped down as the Provincial President when the Woodstock Jail was closed down, but did so after a valiant effort to keep our facility open.
Since the closure, I have become an owner and operator of a transport truck and have learned quickly how difficult it is to be a small business owner.
I honestly feel my next endeavor is to help lay a foundation in this riding for The People’s Alliance of New Brunswick Party. This is a party that has the philosophy and commitment to truly represent every citizen in our communities. During this campaign, I will be collecting ideas and fielding concerns from ordinary citizens on how to repair the broken system that we call “Government.”
I cannot make you a lot of promises, because I, like you, have no knowledge of our Province’s financial structure, due to the lack of transparency and openness. I can promise you that I will listen to the concerns of the people and force government to become more transparent. I will find the answers as to why there are no free blood collection centres available in Woodstock since the politically motivated move of our hospital. I will find out why a vast percentage of our road crews are being hired from other provinces while our local trucks are sitting idle. I will find out why massive cuts were made to our Education and Healthcare systems. I will investigate the huge increases on property taxes.
