My Name is Glenn McAllister, I have been working as a Mental Health Supervisor for 28 years,I have also directed a non-profit health agency for 6 years and worked for the City Of Saint John with children in recreation and parks and tourism. I volunteered with Salvation Army summer camp in 2010 and currently I am Commissioner Of Oaths Court Of Queens Bench.

I am a Family Man with one son, Jacob age 12. I know what it is like to work hard for family and community. I am not only passionate about my family but what affects yours also.

The Family Justice System in New Brunswick is in serious need of reform as 60 percent of New Brunswickers have no access  to legal representation within family court, this present adversarial system pits one attorney against another and parents against each other and families are left with suffering the social, economic, psychological brokenness. Families I have spoken with would like to see the Task Force For Families report implemented now!. This would offer mediation over a 3 month timeline for resolution of divorce and custody issues and recommends changes to Legal Aid, Child Protection, and risk assessments be done by 5 hired psychologists only. This new Family Court model already is working in Ottawa and other countries. It can reduce domestic violence in New Brunswick if implemented and reduces the high conflict families have been experiencing so families can have a better quality of life in New Brunswick.

As a PANB Candidate in the upcoming September 27th Provincial Election in the riding of Saint John Fundy, I value the people in my riding, and will listen to the concerns that affect their families and help find solutions as there MLA. I wish to state where I stand on the issues and I also would like to challenge the other candidates where they stand on the issues that affect families in my riding.

When talking to families in my riding, they tell me with the economic downturn in our economy we need fiscal restraint when it comes to Government spending and they are upset over MLA pay/pension increases while everyday families are having a harder time putting bread and butter on the table. Power rate increases over the past 4 years  have increased twenty eight percent and they are outraged by bonuses to paid to CEO’s. The bail out of Credit Union  Caisse Populaire of $800 million is not fair to taxpayers as well as the orimulsion fiasco. The Cap of $2500 on soft tissue accidents is  also unfair they feel and the most recent disconnect with voters left bad feeling in my riding over the NB Power Deal with Hydro-Quebec, as well as the $1 million  a day overrun at Point Lepreau which is costing the taxpayer $ 900 million and our childrens’ future.

I believe the future is bright if we come together and listen to what is impacting you and your family and I as a MLA would listen and respect your concerns and work on Provincial level to find solutions to what impacts your family and I would like to see more money in your pocket to increase your quality of life.

I ask for your support to make a difference in New Brunswick,. It is time for the people to finally have a voice in our Province’s future.

Respectfully,
Glenn McAllister
Commissioner of Oaths
