Kris Austin People’s Alliance of New Brunswick Leader/Candidate Grand Lake – Gagetown 601 Northside Drive, Minto, NB E4B 3B6 HEADQUARTERS: 132 Main St., Minto 506.327.3654 krisaustin@panb.org
My name is Kris Austin and I have the privilege of leading an amazing group of people into the 2010 provincial election. I was born in Hamilton, Ontario but quickly moved to NB as a young child. I graduated from Minto Memorial High School in 1997 and immediately enrolled in Theological studies in Maine where I was voted in as Vice President of Student Council. From there I went on to work as an Associate Pastor in Nackawic, NB as well as Niagara Falls, Ont.
My employment history also includes Grand Lake Timber (labourer), AV Nackawic Pulp and Paper, as well as a partnered business owner in the forestry sector. Through my course of work experience, I fully understand the struggles many families face in NB. I can relate to operating a very tight budget, seeking assistance from social agencies, and sacrificing many of the luxuries of life just to make ends meet. I also know the frustrations of seeking employment in rural NB and the barriers of operating a local business.
Because of these things I will work to create an atmosphere where entrepreneurs can build a successful business without the needless hassle of bureaucratic red tape. I will also fight to implement government work programs, seek out long term industries to set up base here in NB, and endeavour to remove road blocks for success.
Communities are at their best when each citizen reaches out to one another in times of need. My wife Amanda and I have taught our son Silas the importance of helping others and sensing the satisfaction of making someone’s life a little better. Over the last six years I have founded the Minto Community Youth Center, served as director for Samaria House (addiction center for women) and Minlak (day program for people with disabilities). I have also served as facilitator for the Seniors Support Group and the Overcomers Addiction Group.
True leadership is about being a voice to the voiceless and to fight for what is fair and just. It is about serving, rather than being served. It is about having a sense of integrity, ambition, and vision. These traits are desperately lacking in our government and political system. I will work feverishly to change that. I look to your for support on September 27. Together we can have a vibrant New Brunswick!
