The People’s Alliance now has its fourteenth official candidate with Lucy Rolfe representing the riding of Albert for the upcoming election.
Rolfe, is a mother of three and grandmother of two, who works as a Patient Care Attendant in the Moncton Hospital and is involved in the Saint John Ambulance Brigade as an auxiliary member.
She currently lives in Moncton, but previously lived in Albert County for several years and is anxious to talk to people from Hillsborough to Alma to Elgin and Parkindale and plead her case to represent them in the legislature.
“I think we are on the brink of great change in politics and it is going to start with a completely new approach and a fresh batch of proactive politicians,” Rolfe said.
This is her first time entering any political arena although she has been around politics via her father, who was involved with local Liberal groups in the Miramichi region where she grew up.
Rolfe added she believes her experience with the People’s Alliance will be much better than how her father felt after many years of involvement.
“I know too well that once elected, politicians soon forget the platform they were elected on and often serve their own agenda. When my father left politics he felt disheartened and powerless against a system of government out to serve themselves first,” she said.
Rolfe is the fifth female candidate for the People’s Alliance, giving the party more than one-third of representation by women.
