OUR OBJECTIVES
We are an organization that is looking to build a new political party that represents the everyday people of New Brunswick. Our goal is to reestablish the true meaning of democracy in our Province and to allow the voice of the people to be heard.
Our vision is based on the following policies and principles:
1) Right to Free Vote
* Currently, governing MLA’s are often forced to “toe party lines” when it comes to passing bills on the floor of the Legislature, even to the detriment of the people who elected them.
* The Peoples Alliance of New Brunswick believes that true democracy means that each MLA has the duty to first represent the people who elected them. Therefore, the People’s Alliance stands for the right of each elected member to have a “free vote” on any and all bills tabled without fear of being reprimanded by the party.
2) Campaign Ethics
* Recent polls indicate that voter turnout is at an all time low. The people of New Brunswick have lost faith in the political process due to a sense of deceit, misinformation, and broken promises by candidates of all political stripes.
* The Peoples Alliance of New Brunswick would set up an independent ethics committee that overlooks the promises and policies of each party during an election campaign. This committee would be given the authority to reprimand (fines, recall, impeachment) any candidate/party that does not hold true to their promises within their mandate.
3) Open Government
* The Peoples Alliance of New Brunswick believes the most effective way to govern is to be as open and transparent as possible. Progress is made when every option is on the table and every voice is allowed to be heard. We believe the everyday people of New Brunswick deserve to know and play a part in major decisions that chart our future as a province. We will be holding open meetings on a regular basis to develop ideas and form policies. We will also be creating associations and looking for potential candidates for the Sept. 27/10 provincial election. Please check up on the group as events and meetings will be planned for your input.
Even her birth was eventful as with winds howling and torrential rains flooding roads, she emerged during one of worst storms ever experienced on the eastern seaboard. October 17,1954 saw Saint John and the coastline rocked by Hurricane Hazel. There are some that claim Wendy has been a whirlwind ever since.
A lifelong resident of Saint John, NB, Wendy has lived in every riding within the city at some point in her life, making her aware of the issues which the people face. Wendy graduated UNBSJ 1991 in the Bachelor of Arts program, with a double major of English and Sociology. She has demonstrated an active interest and participation in politics throughout middle school, high school and university. She served as President of OPTAMUS, the Organization of Part-Time and Mature Students at UNBSJ for
two years, Treasurer for one, as well as serving as a Student Representative on UNBSJ Senate. Wendy has worked at various occupations throughout her life in a variety of fields which include sales, education
and telecommunication. After graduating in 1991 she was employed at UNBSJ by OPTAMUS as well as Student Services, Westfield Elementary School, and held telecommunication positions at various locations including NCO, Wyndham and Stream. Wendy has been until recently volunteering at the
North End Food Bank as their Assistant Coordiantor. She also is the current President of the People’s Alliance of New Brunsick – L’Alliance des gens du Nouveau Brunswick’s Saint John Lancaster Riding Association. Wendy also holds the position of Regional Director at Large for People’s Alliance of New Brunswick – L’Alliance des gens du Nouveau Brunswick. Wendy would like all members in the Saint John and surrounding areas to contact her at any time regarding questions they may have about the party.
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM WENDY TO YOU ABOUT YOUR PROVINCE:
I believe the people in New Brunswick need to vote for change. We, the people of New Brunswick have to overcome our language and cultural differences and unite as one voice to achieve a result that we can be proud of, the taking back of control of our province. The challenges ahead of us will not be easy. We will have to find ways to reduce the debt in order to balance the books. That in itself is a tall order, especially without spending money to generate jobs and more economic growth. However, I do believe that we, the people of New Brunswick are hard workers, intelligent, resourceful and share a common bond. We have proven from the history of all of our cultures that we are survivors. We can overcome the challenges that we face, working together towards common goals, no divisions between people or the areas where they reside as we are all New Brunswickers and we all deserve the best government our province can offer, which needs to be a democratic one so that everyone can have a voice in changing their future.
Thanking you for your support for the People’s Alliance of New Brunswick-L’Alliance des gens du Nouveau Brunswick on Sept 27th.
SHE HAS HER OWN DOCTINE
